This species of birds occur in parts of eastern Australia, mainly from ranges west of Mackay down to St George area QLD, others are in the Griffith area, NSW and there is a large isolated population found on Kangaroo Island, off South Australia. Casuarina Trees provide the basis of the Glossy’s staple diet as they feed nearly exclusively on the seeds they extract from the Casuarina seed pods.
